Job Description

Company Description

The Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to empowering Hispanic businesses in Solano County by advocating for opportunities that foster economic growth and success. The Chamber provides businesses with essential resources, training, and tools to enhance their development and prosperity within the community. Its mission is to create an inclusive environment that supports sustained growth and achievement for Hispanic entrepreneurs and professionals. The organization is committed to advancing the local economy and fostering strong partnerships that benefit the entire county.

About the Opportunity

The Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is seeking its first Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization into its next chapter of growth and impact. This is a rare opportunity to shape and scale a trusted, community-rooted institution into a strong regional voice for Hispanic-owned businesses.

The CEO will serve as the Chamber’s founding executive leader—setting strategy, building organizational infrastructure, expanding advocacy influence, and driving measurable economic outcomes for Hispanic entrepreneurs across Solano County. This role is ideal for a visionary, relationship-driven leader who thrives at the intersection of business, public policy, and community impact.

This is a builder’s role. Working in close partnership with a committed Board and engaged business community, the CEO will help expand access to capital, strengthen business-to-business connections, advance pro-business policies, and leave a lasting legacy for Solano County’s Hispanic business community.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides visionary leadership for the Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, advancing economic opportunity for Hispanic-owned businesses through advocacy, capital access, strategic partnerships, and member engagement. The CEO serves as the Chamber’s chief strategist, public voice, and operational leader—driving sustainable growth and positioning the Chamber as a powerful engine for regional economic development.

Responsibilities & Duties

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Lead implementation of the Chamber’s three-year strategic plan, aligning programs, resources, and partnerships to measurable outcomes.
  • Partner with the Board of Directors to advance the Chamber’s mission, support effective governance, and provide strategic insight and recommendations.
  • Serve as a non-voting member and corporate secretary to the Board, Executive Committee, and standing committees.

Advocacy & Community Leadership

  • Act as the Chamber’s chief spokesperson and advocate on issues impacting Hispanic and small businesses at the local, state, and federal levels (under the guidance of the Board Governance committee).
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with elected officials, public agencies, business leaders, and community partners.
  • Elevate the Chamber’s public profile through media engagement, public forums, and regional, statewide, and national representation.

Economic Development & Member Engagement

  • Drive initiatives that expand access to capital, procurement opportunities, workforce development, and business-to-business connections.
  • Oversee membership growth, retention, and engagement strategies that deliver clear value and financial sustainability.
  • Ensure high-quality programs, events, and services that position the Chamber as a central hub for Hispanic business success.

Operations, Finance & Compliance

  • Oversee all Chamber operations, including staff leadership, organizational structure, and performance management.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, ensure sound financial controls, and maintain audit and reporting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and fiduciary requirements.

Communications & Organizational Excellence

  • Direct communications strategy to ensure consistent, timely, and mission-aligned messaging to members, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Foster a high-performing, inclusive organizational culture that supports professional growth, accountability, and collaboration.

Additional Duties

  • Coordinate the work of the Board, committees, and programs to ensure alignment and effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as required to advance the Chamber’s mission and strategic priorities.

Qualifications & Requirements

The ideal candidate is a mission-driven executive leader with experience building and scaling nonprofit or community-based organizations, advancing economic equity, and leading through influence and partnership.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of experience in a Senior executive leadership role within a nonprofit, chamber, business association, or community-based organization.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational growth, strategic planning, and change management in a mission-driven environment.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with a governing board, including experience supporting strong governance, accountability, and shared leadership.
  • Financial stewardship experience, including budget development, fiscal oversight, and long-term sustainability planning.
  • Strong external relations skills, with experience representing an organization to funders, elected officials, community leaders, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (strongly preferred).
  • College Degree in business or a related field.
  • Experience supporting Hispanic-owned businesses, small businesses, or entrepreneurs from historically underserved communities.
  • Background in advocacy, public policy, economic development, workforce development, or systems-level change.
  • Fundraising experience, including grants, sponsorships, partnerships, or earned-revenue models.
  • Familiarity with Solano County or the broader Bay Area nonprofit and civic landscape.
  • Reside in Solano County.

Leadership Attributes

  • Builder mindset with the ability to design and strengthen systems, teams, and infrastructure in a growing organization.
  • Inclusive, values-driven leadership grounded in equity, cultural humility, and community partnership.
  • Strategic, adaptable leader who can translate vision into action and measurable community impact.

Compensation & Benefits

The Chamber offers a full-time, exempt position with a mission-aligned compensation package that includes:

  • Base salary of $75,000-85,000
  • Eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus linked to revenue and growth benchmarks
  • Health insurance coverage
  • Paid time off and holidays

As the Chamber continues to grow, compensation and benefits will be reviewed to ensure alignment with organizational scale and impact.
