Step into Precision: Your Day as a CNC Lathe Turning Specialist

It’s 6:00 a.m. at our Sidney, OH facility. You review the day’s queue, load programs, confirm your setups, and take a final look at the print—tolerances down to 0.0002 in. You tweak offsets, verify your tooling, and kick off a smooth first article. Throughout the shift, you’ll move seamlessly from troubleshooting a lathe cycle to checking dimensions with micrometers and bore gages, collaborating with engineers on a tricky feature, and updating production data so the next operation flows without a hitch.

Role Snapshot

• Location: Sidney, OH (LeRoi - 211 E Russell Rd. Sidney, OH 45365)
• Shift: 1st shift, Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
• Pay: Starting at $28.50 per hour or more based on experience
• Employment Type: Full-time, hourly

What You’ll Tackle

• Set up, troubleshoot, and operate lathes and grinders across multiple departments; adjust controls, tooling, and control media as needed.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and job instructions to achieve required dimensions and tolerances; determine setup needs.
• Select and use cutting tools, attachments, and accessories on lathes, grinders, machining centers, drill presses, and drill machines.
• Enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit control information for CNC machines; monitor cycles to catch malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
• Measure parts with a range of metrology tools; evaluate results against specifications and rework components that don’t meet requirements.
• Partner with supervisors, engineers, and production teammates to resolve machining issues and improve outcomes.
• Follow ISO procedures and all safety rules, including PPE use and hoist inspections.
• Move completed parts to the next operation per routing; keep location status updated via computer data entry.
• Maintain documentation: work order covers, daily production logs, status sheets, and quality records.
• Engage in team communications to sustain productivity and address issues in real time.
• Hold tolerances to 0.0002 in with consistent attention to detail.
• Uphold 5S standards for organization and housekeeping; contribute to layout and process efficiency improvements.
• Participate in monthly departmental and quarterly town hall meetings; perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED
• 3+ years of CNC machining experience

Core Strengths

• Convert between metric and U.S. standard units.
• Read CMM results and understand CNC code.
• Diagnose machine and part issues to protect quality.
• Use a full range of measurement tools and equipment.
• Follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
• Solve problems with standard methods (e.g., 5 Whys).
• Stand and walk up to 8 hours continuously; lift 35 lbs solo and 70 lbs with assistance; push/pull up to 35 lbs.

Preferred

• Technical school, associate degree, or additional certifications
• Experience with depth, bore, and height gages; feeler gages; micrometers; calipers; deburring tools; die grinders; drill presses; and overhead lifting equipment
• Ability to interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, blueprints, memos, and procedures
• Comfort with calculations from 0.0001 to 0.1
