Position: Day Custodian Responsible to: Director of Buildings and Grounds Term Of Employment: Twelve (12) Months Job Goal: To maintain a clean, well kept school building Responsibilities include: Entry way, door glass; classroom door glass, hallway door glass must be washed twice a week or more often as necessary. Washrooms must be cleaned each day, floors disinfected and cleaned, urinals cleaned, toilets cleaned and disinfected. Fill towel cabinets and toilet tissue holders and empty all waste cans daily. Clean all assigned rooms, dust furniture, dust mop all classroom floors, vacuum all carpets, empty all wastebaskets at the end of each day and empty pencil sharpeners daily. Clean all lamp fixtures twice per year.
Clean assigned hall floors and entry ways. Wet mop stairways and halls twice per week and more often during inclement weather. All entrance mats must be kept clean and dry. Remove all snow and ice from entrances and public walkways around schools. Boiler rooms must be kept clean and orderly at all times. Note: Christmas, Spring, and Summer recess tasks are to be completed as determined by the Director of Buildings and Grounds. Washing of all windows inside and out as often as necessary, weather permitting. Cleaning of principals' office complex as prescribed by Director of Buildings & Grounds. Cleaning of gymnasium floor, washrooms and other areas utilized by evening activities at the conclusion of such events. Assistance to outside groups utilizing facilities as required. Set up for activities as needed. Monitoring of building mechanical operations ( ex. boiler) Notification regarding building maintenance requirements to head custodian or Director of Buildings and Grounds. Reporting of misconduct or abuse of facilities by individuals or groups utilizing the school and general observation of facilities during night activities. Securing of all building windows and doors prior to leaving school. Other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds. Custodians shall at all times maintain careful supervision of the school buildings and grounds. They shall as far as possible prevent the defacement and destruction of the building and adjoining property, and shall immediately notify the Principal or Director of Buildings & Grounds of any marking, cutting, or destruction of such property, or of disorderly conduct among the pupils if custodian can accurately identify the pupil (s).
In the interest of orderly procedures, the Day Custodian receives instructions from the Director of Buildings and Grounds. The Day Custodian will respond to reasonable requests by administrators or teachers in the district.
Salary Based of Experience: Minimum Starting Salary is $38,500.
