Job Description:

The Research Assistant I with the Department of Psychiatry will assist with the UF Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, a large-scale national collaborative research project that follows children, aged 9 and 10 at outset, into young adulthood. The activities will include assisting in participant scheduling, consenting/assenting parents and youth, corresponding with participants via phone, email/regular mail, and administering the study protocol.

RESEARCH PROTOCOL EXECUTION - This position will work directly with both child and parent participant in consenting/assenting, administering the study protocol, and collecting data; this includes, administering tasks using REDcap, iPad applications, and E-prime based fMRI tasks and collecting biological samples (hair, saliva, urine, and breath samples).

PARTICIPANT CONTACT/SCHEDULING -   This position will assist with participant outreach and scheduling, including coordinating with laboratory and MRI facility scheduling. This position is also responsible for answering emails, phone calls, and mail regarding study participation.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES - This position will be responsible for monitoring study supplies and insuring supplies are restocked in a timely manner. This position will also monitor the shipping of biological samples to the appropriate laboratories and confirming samples have arrived satisfactorily.

HUMAN SUBJECT TRANSPORTATION - Procures means of transportation (rental car) and coordinates transportation of human subjects to/from study office.

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to walk between work areas to complete assigned tasks. Duties may involve periods of standing, walking, bending and moving throughout the workspace

Collects and prepares human subject payments for youth participants and parent/guardian and performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience interviewing youth and adults, prior experience with computer-based testing and REDCap database, prior work on human research protocols. Strong interpersonal skills includes the ability to address family concerns in a sensitive and transparent way. Attention to detail.

 

Expected Salary:

$19–$21 hourly

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida are engaged in groundbreaking projects covering a variety of interests through our Centers, labs, and collaborations with other departments. The Department of Psychiatry includes a large outpatient center with various specialty clinics within (including one associated with our Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment), a very active inpatient service, psychiatry collaborative program for primary care practitioners, school consultation program, and community consultation services.
