Summary:

This position works under and with the Shipping Manager to assist the Shipping and Warehouse Operations. This position will be responsible for the daily effective use of all company assets including personnel, equipment, and warehouse inventory. Will ensure all product shipments are within company standards for package condition, pallet configuration, and product count per pallet. Ensure all vessels being loaded are in compliance with Company standards - contact Quality Assurance, management, or appropriate personnel before loading if unsure. Must be able to keep legible, accurate and complete records and reports in English. Must be able to closely follow operational instructions.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Manager to assign shipping and warehouse personnel work assignments; ensure all persons are performing work correctly and safely with consistent and thorough follow up.
  • Plan and Coordinate shipments on a daily basis. Ability to plan ahead.
  • Ensure all loads are prepared for shipping in a safe and timely manner.
  • Ensure all shipments are correct by verifying labels, Bill of Lading, quantity, product and end-user.
  • Maintain warehouse and inventory to IPC standards at all times.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of all Bill of Lading, Code Sheets, shipping and inventory records; other records or labels as needed.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of all Log Books used for shipments and incoming supplies.
  • Must maintain good communication, both verbally and written, with all personnel involved in shipping or warehouse functions.
  • Sanitation, keep warehouse clean. Make sure all outgoing product is clean and without damage.
  • Become efficient in Navision for shipping and receiving.
  • Coordinate receiving of all UPS/fedex packages. Assist in notifying appropriate departments upon arrival.
  • Responsible for writing work orders for equipment or warehouse repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensure the Company standard of oldest dates to ship first (first-in, first-out) are maintained.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned and keep manager informed of progress and/or problems of all projects.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Administrative knowledge to include, but not limited to: planning, resource allocation, leadership, and corrdination of people and activities.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods of shipping products over the road.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and satisfaction, and achieve quality standards.
  • Knowledge of production and processing including quality control, cost control, waste elimination, and effective distribution of goods.
  • Good paperwork and basic mathematical skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with supervisors, co-workers, and staff - good people skills.
  • Ability to delegate duties when necessary.
  • Safety and Quality conscious.
  • Must be forklift certified, operate equipment safety with no damage to finished product, trucks, or any Idaho Pacific property.

Education:

Education must be of such level as to allow for the accurate reading, writing, calculation and communication of the required materials and instructions to complete the job responsibilities. High school diploma or higher education preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, bend, or move repetitively for up to 12 hours.
  • Must be able to lift on a regular basis up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Ability to tolerate dust or chemicals.
  • Bending, stretching, lifting, reaching, climbing, crawling and fingering required.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing and general warehouse environment with exposure to extreme hot or cold, steam, dust, wet / humid conditions, loud noises, low lit areas, and cramped or crowded conditions.

Supervisor Duties:

The Shipping Assistant has no supervisory authority. Will report to the Shipping Manager.

Working Conditions:

Normal plant / manufacturing / warehouse environment. Hours of operation are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Must be available for all days and all hours. Position is very physical / hands on. Will be exposed to ligh levels of noise, heat, cold, dust, and wet and humid conditions, and all other environmental factors normally attributed to a shipping environment.
